Welcome to the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW),
District Lodge 141, and Local Lodge 1886
- Know your contract. Educate yourself about what it is to be part of a union shop.
- Attend a monthly meeting and get to know your Union brothers and sisters, both ATW and BTW. Go for the pizza or donuts, stay for the meeting!
- Support your Union brothers and sister. Conflicts happen; if you need help with a resolution, reach out to IAM EAP or an IAM shop steward. Do not seek help from management; management is not your friend.
- Join one of the Local’s committees. There are several and you can find these under the By-Laws tab on this website. Examples include Education Committee, Women’s Committee, Human Rights Committee, Community Service Committee, Law and Legislative Committee, Social Committee, Organizing Committee, and Ground Safety Committee.
- Never meet with management without a shop steward.
